E-Commerce Redefined: Sales Agent Portal – Cantex Case Study

Cantex (div. of Mitsubishi) manufactures PVC for the electrical and plumbing markets with facilities nationwide. Sales occur through 350 agents who require a Portal for: (1) Simple but Robust JDE Ordering (2) JDE Real-Time Product Information (inventory, pricing, etc.) (3) JDE Real-Time Customer, Product & Finance Inquiries and (4) Cloud/SaaS deployment. Requirements included defining Order Type and 1-Page Grid (Excel Like) Ordering. Most agents have inventory stock, thus are set up as Branch Plants requiring ST/OT functionality. A version of the Sales Portal Dynamic Product Catalog / Search seamlessly integrated with Item Master, Cat Codes, etc. is utilizing on the updated website. The Portal significantly improved Agent productivity vs. Agents using JDE ERP directly. Processes are streamlined and simplified, resulting in efficiencies and reduced operational costs. A customer direct / consumer version of the e-Commerce Portal is planned for phase 2.

JDE Spend Management: Creating Digitized & Automated Processes

AstroNova’s JDE Web Storefront – Easy Customization after Base Install

AstroNova is a global leader in developing and applying data visualization technologies in products serving industrial, packaging, aerospace, and defense markets. Our basic JDE integrated e-commerce requirements included (1) Attractive & Easy-to-Use, (2) Customer Pricing & Availability, (3) Billing and (4) Quick Deployment. Never having a web storefront sales channel, we elected to do a base install with customization after. EASYCommerce is platform based, easily providing this “net change” deployment approach. Only 2 weeks after project start, all software and integration was in place and we began User Acceptance Testing. This allowed to now better identify the project details including: (1) Quick Re-Order with few clicks, (2) Multiple Payment Methods (A/R, Card & ACH), (3) Inquiries beyond Order – Invoice, Back-Order, Payments, Statements, (4) Returns and (5) Freight Calculation.
